Accessibility Statement
OSPRE Nigeria is committed to making its digital services accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This statement explains the standard we work to (WCAG 2.1 Level AA), the features we provide, where we still have work to do, and — importantly — how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Accessibility is a shared goal. If you hit a barrier, please tell us; we will fix it and, in the meantime, get you what you need in an accessible format.
Our Commitment
The Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (OSPRE) is committed to ensuring that its digital services are usable by everyone, including people with visual, auditory, motor, cognitive and speech disabilities. For a platform that serves all Nigerians — often at moments that matter most — accessibility is a design requirement, not an afterthought.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, across all pages and services on this platform.
Conformance Status
This platform is substantially conformantwith WCAG 2.1 Level AA. “Substantially conformant” means the standard is met across the platform with a small number of known exceptions, which we are actively remediating (see “Known Limitations” below). We keep this statement current as improvements are made.
Accessibility Features
We build and maintain the platform with the following accessibility features:
- Semantic HTML structure and ARIA landmarks for screen-reader compatibility;
- Full keyboard operability across interactive elements, with visible focus indicators;
- Colour-contrast ratios that meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 AA;
- Descriptive alternative text for meaningful images and icons;
- Clear, descriptive link and button labels;
- Text that can be resized up to 200% without loss of content or function;
- Respect for reduced-motion preferences; no content flashes more than three times per second;
- Responsive layouts that reflow cleanly on small screens and at high zoom.
Known Limitations
Despite our efforts, some content is not yet fully accessible. We are working to resolve the following:
- Some older PDF documents in the resource library may not be fully tagged for assistive technology — we are remediating these and can provide accessible alternatives on request;
- Certain complex data visualisations (e.g. the early-warning map) include text summaries but may not be fully conveyed to every assistive technology;
- Some video published before 2025 may lack captions; all new video is captioned.

Assistive Technology & Testing
The platform is built with modern, standards-based technology and is designed to work with current assistive technologies. We test with screen readers (including NVDA and VoiceOver), keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, and automated accessibility scanners, and we conduct accessibility reviews at least quarterly and when significant new features are released.
Alternative Formats
We can provide information from this platform in alternative formats — such as accessible documents or large print — where reasonably possible. Please contact us with your requirements and preferred format.
Feedback & Reporting a Barrier
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of this platform. If you encounter a barrier, or need content in an alternative format, please tell us — your reports help us improve.
