Disclaimer
OSPRE exists to help Nigeria see risk early and act with foresight. To use our information well, it is important to understand what it is — and what it is not. This notice explains the advisory, forward-looking nature of what we publish, the independent open-source data we draw on, and the limits of reliance.
Above all: this platform is not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 112 or 199.
General Notice
The information published on osprenigeria.gov.ngby the Office for Strategic Preparedness and Resilience (“OSPRE”) is provided for general information, situational awareness, research and policy purposes. It is advisory in nature. While we work to the highest professional standards, this information should be used as one input among many in your decision-making — not as a sole or definitive basis for action.
This Is Not an Emergency Service
In an emergency, call 112 or 199
OSPRE does not provide emergency response and cannot dispatch help. If life, safety or property is at immediate risk, contact the emergency services directly:
National Emergency: 112 (toll-free) · Police: 199
Submitting a report through this Platform does not summon an emergency response.
Accuracy, Completeness & Timeliness
Early-warning and risk information is uncertain by nature. We do not warrant that any content is accurate, complete, current or free from error, and situations can change rapidly. Analyses, indicators, maps, alerts and forecasts represent assessments at a point in time and may be superseded without notice.
No single source is treated as the truth
Third-Party & Open-Source Data
Some of our situational analysis is generated by aggregating and correlating publicly-available data from independent third parties. We are grateful to these providers; their data is used under their respective licences and remains subject to their terms and limitations. They include:
- ACLED — the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project;
- UCDP — the Uppsala Conflict Data Program;
- The GDELT Project — global open event and news data;
- Open news & media feeds — a wide range of Nigerian and international outlets;
- DB-IP (IP geolocation, CC BY 4.0) and Open-Meteo (weather).
Inclusion of third-party data does not imply OSPRE's endorsement of those providers, nor do those providers endorse OSPRE. We are not responsible for errors, omissions or interruptions in third-party data.
No Professional Advice; No Reliance
Nothing on the Platform constitutes legal, security, medical, financial or other professional advice, and it does not create any duty of care or advisory relationship. You should obtain independent, situation-specific advice before acting. To the fullest extent permitted by law, OSPRE and the Federal Government of Nigeria accept no liability for any loss or damage arising from reliance on information obtained through the Platform. See our Terms of Use.
Forward-Looking Statements
Certain content — outlooks, scenarios, risk trajectories and forecasts — is forward-looking and reflects analytical judgement about possible future events. Such statements are inherently subject to uncertainty; actual events may differ materially, and no outcome is guaranteed.
Views & Official Position
Unless expressly stated to be an official position, analyses and commentary published here represent professional assessment for situational awareness and do not necessarily constitute the official policy or position of the Federal Government of Nigeria or its agencies.

The Platform may contain links to external sites for convenience. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability, and a link does not imply endorsement.
